Kiltullagh Castle

Kiltullagh Castle, County Galway

Motorways are boring so I’m always looking for something interesting alongside the road when driving on one. Just before the junction for Loughrea (if you’re heading away from Galway) through the arch of a bridge I spotted this wreck of a castle.

I liked the shape presented by that fleeting glimpse so I wanted to capture it. On my first visit I found the castle but not the road that would take me there, the second time I shot it from the wrong angle and only on the third visit did I manage to capture the profile that I was after.

Limited edition of 50.
